Android smartphone users often download apps from Google Playstore and unknown sources to meet their needs. If you have too many apps on your phone, then check the apps list of your phone once. Actually, more than 150 apps have been removed from Google Playstore, which were dangerous for a common user.
Actually, 150 apps on Google Play Store were included in UltimaSMS campaign. This was used to commit fraud. The apps used to lure users into signing in for premium SMS service, after which the necessary information of the users was stolen. If your smartphone also includes such apps, then delete them immediately.
Avast Antivirus has informed in its blog post that these apps have been downloaded more than 10 million times. All these apps worked in the same way. These apps, which were part of the UltimaSMS campaign, were also available for download on the Google Play Store. When users downloaded these apps from Google Play Store, the apps would track the user’s location, IMEI and phone number and use them later.
The apps that are used to execute scams include apps in categories such as custom keyboards, QR code scanners, video and photo editors, spam call blockers, camera filters. After getting these apps IMEI number, location, contact number of the phone, scammers decide in which country and in which language the scam will be done.
If you are not able to see all the apps present in your phone, then you can resort to the settings of the smartphone for this. Actually, open the smartphone and go to the settings present in it. There you will get the option of Apps and Notifications, in which you can see all the available apps. Or you can also take the help of Google Playstore for this.
