Srikanth was born in a small village in Andhra Pradesh. His parents were farmers. He considered himself cursed by giving birth to a blind boy. Srikanth’s childhood was spent in a bed full of thorns. But as soon as his grandmother’s life was settled in it, he used to help the child in doing every day’s work.
The villagers even used to say that “Can not see it.” let it die.”
Srikanth was the only child who was made to feel isolated from other children. He wanted to play in the playground but other children would treat him as if he was not present there. After seeing all this trouble, his uncle suggested his parents to put him in blind school in Hyderabad. Then Srikanth was sent to a different environment about 400 km away from home, where he remembered the house very much. In that environment he could not shield himself and he escaped from there regardless of his safety. His uncle finds him out and then he asks Srikanth the same thing. After all, what kind of life does he want to live at home?
This was the moment in which everything changed. He took a vow to himself that he will give his best in whatever comes in his way. For this he worked very hard and never looked back again. He finished first in his school in the tenth examination. He was very keen that he study further in science, but he had to choose the Mazaburan Arts stream. There was no science subject for blind children in Indian education system. But as usual Srikanth did not see the obstacles. He filed a case in a court and kept fighting till the entire law was changed for all Indian students. He passed his board exams with 98 percent numbers.
Srikanth’s fate was such that he never got anything easily. He wanted to study engineering from a good institute in the country, but due to blindness, he could not get admission in IIT. After being rejected, he applied for further studies at the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was the first blind student to get an opportunity to study at MIT.
After completing his studies, he decided to get a job in the corporate sector and returned to India. Later in Hyderabad Coordination Established an NGO called. In which the students are provided according to personal needs and target based services for students with disabilities.
Srikanth has proved to the world that if the will power in man is filled with codification, then he crosses every darkness. In 2012, Srikanth established Bollant Industries Private Limited in which employment opportunities are provided to the differently-abled.
