Today’s youth are being affected by the urban glare on the one hand and their homeland in their desire to settle in cities, are being alienated from their villages. In the coming days, we read that there is a continuous migration from the villages of Uttarakhand, only the elders are left in the villages. In this way, if we tell you that even today there are some young people who are going to their villages by saying goodbye to the glittering, good jobs and all the amenities of the metros, working to move their villages on the path of progress. Then you will not believe it.
It is true that two daughters of Uttarakhand Kushika Sharma And Kanika Sharma He did not pay attention to his good enough fat salary job and turned to his village. The comforts of a metropolis like Delhi were abandoned only to give life back to the mountains.
Yes, Kushika and Kanika were living their lives very comfortably in the city, but they realized that it was not the comfort in the daily rush that was in the mountains. The two sisters decided that they would leave everything and go to their village Mukteshwar settled in Uttarakhand and contribute to the progress of the village. The family got support and they chose the way to the village to bring awareness about organic farming. Going to Mukteshwar, the two sisters launched ‘Dayo – The Organic Village Resort’ and made the locals aware of organic farming. At the same time, the efforts of both the sisters are to expand their field of work so that other villages of Uttarakhand can also be made aware. Along with this, they are also working on a plan to create a supply chain to sell agricultural products.
Kushika and Kanika did their schooling from Nainital and Ranikhet in Uttarakhand. After completion of school education, Kushika decided to pursue MBA. After pursuing an MBA, Kushika worked as a Senior Research Analyst in a multi-national company in Gurgaon for nearly four years. On the other hand, her sister Kanika obtained a Masters degree from Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi with good marks, after which Kanika got the scholarship in Entrepreneurship in Hyderabad. The two sisters had the opportunity to work with many national and international institutions in their respective fields of work. But both the sisters had to stay away from their family living in Nainital in connection with studies and jobs, but whenever they got a chance, both of them would reach Nainital to meet their family. During this time, she realized how relieved her father is by getting her children to her and as the days of the return of both sisters come back to work, the sadness of the father increases, both the sisters also move away from the father. Does not seem good, but what to do, work was also necessary.
Kenfolioz In a special conversation with Kushika told that “We had everything but there was a lack of peace in life, that peace was found in the mountains. Then my sister and I thought of leaving my job and doing something in the lap of nature. For this, we decided that we would do organic farming with the local people.
In this way the two sisters determined to do organic farming while living in the peaceful clean environment of their village and after bidding goodbye to their jobs, came to their village Mukteshwar with their family. In the beginning, she also faced many difficulties because her idea was completely new to the people there, which it was natural for her to take some time to believe. Staying in Mukteshwar, the two sisters took a few days to take stock of the farming conditions and the condition of the farmers. During this time both of them realized that the village economy is mainly based on agriculture but the local people lack awareness about increasing agricultural production and neither the farmers there have some knowledge about organic farming as well as their guidance There is no one to do it.
On the other hand, there is a demand for organic products in cities which is continuously increasing. Kushika and Kanika started training themselves on how to do organic farming and zero budget farming before talking to the farmers about the resolve to develop organic farming in their village. During the training of this kind of farming, both of them visited many states of South India and Gujarat. After taking full training, in 2014, the two sisters together started farming on 25 acres of land in Mukteshwar. Also, ‘Dayo – The Organic Village Resort’ was established to turn others towards the villages.
Talking about Dayo – The Organic Resort, Kanika says that “While living in the cities, we felt that the people living there wanted to stay close to nature for some time. Then we thought that if we tell people that you too come here and do farming then no one will be ready. But when we tell them that you will come here and spend some days, everyone will be ready for this and will also like to come to the villages. “
At the same time, both of them also noticed that whenever someone from cities come here for holiday, they should experience heaven here and get to do something that is new and healthy for them by staying in the village. Therefore, he used the word dyo in front of the name of her organic village resort, which is a Sanskrit word meaning “heaven”. Both the sisters are getting very good response from the tourists as the resort starts. The 5-room resort of Mukteshwar is also named after the rooms, which are based on the five elements of nature derived from the Sanskrit language. The resort’s names are Urvi, Ira, Viha, Ark and Wyman. This is unique in itself.
Visitors coming here are given the facility that they can go in the form and pluck the vegetables of their choice with their hands and give it to the chef of the resort to make their favorite food. Her resort currently employs about 20 people. On the rest of the resort land, these sisters are doing their farming work. Along with this, both sisters are also making the children of the village aware of education.
Keeping in mind tourism development and providing livelihood opportunities, Kushika and Kanika first trained the local people in hospitality. The result of this is that today all the work from farming to kitchen is being handled by the local people themselves and they are also getting financial assistance. The two sisters are considering building a supply chain to sell organic agricultural produce originating in the resort here. Using this idea, he has started selling vegetables and fruits of her resort in mandis this season.
Today Kushika and Kanika are not only very happy and excited about this work but also providing employment to the rural people living nearby so that the problem of migration can be solved. It is also making awareness towards organic farming, which is the task of providing a direction to the people of the village.
In fact, if migration is to be stopped, we too have to go back to our villages again with a new idea and give birth to a new beginning. Today the time has come that the youth will have to come forward from the crowd of cities and manage their village because if there is something different, then there is a need to move away from the crowd. The crowd gives courage but snatches up the identity.
