It has been said that if the person has the desire and strong will to reach the destination, then no power in the world can stop him from fulfilling his dream. Our story today is also about the success of one such person, who has shown this statement by meeting all the challenges. Those who have traveled from a small community of Manipur to become IAS officers Asker Ali The story is full of inspiration.
Saskar, a 2016 batch IAS officer, belongs to a Manipuri community that has stood at the edge for centuries. This community, named Meetei-Pangal, constitutes only eight percent of the state’s population and has rarely been a topic of discussion among media or people for any reason. Saskar Ali worked hard to identify this community that has been a victim of disregard for years and today is an inspiration not only to his community but to millions of youth.
Sharing his story with a Facebook page called Humans of LBSNAA, Saskar wrote that when I was in class 9, I had a dream of becoming an IAS. During school, I used to work in the fields with my parents. This is where the spirit of hard work developed in me. There were many occasions in reaching the post of IAS when people doubted my dreams but it was my hard work and passion that always inspired me to move forward.
Progress through education has never been a priority in the community I come from. There is hardly anyone who has even dreamed of becoming an IAS.
After graduating in Physics from Delhi University, he started preparing for UPSC exam. Despite the economic challenges, he continued his preparations and became the first person from his state to achieve success in 2015.
He considers the success of becoming an IAS a big success not only for himself but for the entire community. He believes that even though it is a small success, it will be an example for others to follow. I am a living example of how education has the power to change everything and leads man to a better future.
He believes that no matter where you come from and who you are – as an IAS you are an Indian and you should work for the country. When we make our diversity a force, we will progress best and quickly, when we take everyone along and when we think as a nation.
