- State board exam from March 04
- CBSE exam from 26 April
- 15th February to 12th Practicals
Nagpur. The state government has decided to take the board’s examination offline from March 4, despite opposition from teachers’ organizations including parents. Prior to this, practical examinations are starting from February 15. Due to COVID, offline classes took place only for about 1-2 months. This was the reason that there was a demand to postpone the examination for almost a month, but the government remained adamant on its insistence. On the other hand CBSE has declared the date of examination from April 26. That is, when the state board exam is over, then CBSE students will take the exam. In this condition CBSE students will get enough time to study.
Due to COVID, almost the entire session went out in online classes. Because of this, the students could not study properly. The government had announced in January itself that the board exams would be taken from March 4. Teacher organizations including parents also raised their voice against this decision, but the government did not listen to anyone and announced to take offline examination on time.
Neither Sarao nor half yearly examination
Due to less offline classes of the students of the State Board, they could not get enough time to study. Also, due to lack of Sarao examination, the practice of the students could not be done. If the exam date was extended, then students would have got time to do offline classes as well. Students could have prepared well by getting about a month’s time, but now they will have to take the exam from March 4. Due to COVID, the half-yearly examination was not taken this year. That is, the preparation of the students for the examination is incomplete.
On the other hand, CBSE has decided to take the 10th and 12th examinations from April 26. That is, CBSE students will get more time to prepare for the exam as compared to the state board. Also, due to Term-2 exam, the syllabus has also been reduced to half. Due to COVID, the examination is being taken by CBSE in two parts for 2 years. Term-1 is being taken at the school level while Term-2 is being conducted by the board itself.
discrimination between students
Parents say that the date of examination should have been extended by the state board so that students would get a chance to study. Along with the school, tuition-coaching also remained closed for several months. There were many technical flaws in online education. In rural parts, the situation was even more dire. Despite this, the government announced to take the exam on time. Now due to the difference in the exam date between the two boards, a situation like discrimination is sure to be created. Parents demand that the government should seriously consider this issue.
