A Good Samaritan has been left “extremely upset and shaken” after being robbed at knifepoint by a person he went to assist.
The theft occurred on a footpath in Edinburgh between 5.50pm and 6pm on Monday.
Police Scotland mentioned the male sufferer was strolling between The Gyle Shopping Centre and Gogarloch Syke when he noticed a person mendacity on the bottom.
On going to his support, the person on the bottom produced a knife and demanded cash. The robber then took off right into a wooded space in the direction of Gogarloch Syke with a four-figure sum of money.
Detective Constable Peter Lyons mentioned: “Fortunately nobody was injured however the man who was robbed was left extraordinarily upset and shaken by what occurred.
“The area was likely busy with dog walkers and pedestrians at the time and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.”

The suspect is described as white, in his late-20s, slim, and round 5ft 11ins to 6ft tall.
He was sporting a burgundy/maroon hoodie with the hood up, light-grey tracksuit bottoms and gray trainers.
DC Lyons added: “We are also keen to speak to the man described and would like anyone who saw him before or after the incident to get in touch.”
