He said that the purpose of organizing the four-day tournament is to promote Sanskrit language and to inculcate sportsmanship in the Vedic family. The winning teams will be given Vedic Books and Centennial Panchang along with cash prizes to the players. One such cricket tournament with commentary in Sanskrit was played in Kashi last year.
When asked about the challenges of playing cricket in a dhoti kurta, Tiwari said, “There is no problem while fielding in a dhoti-kurta. I myself hit fours and sixes in Monday’s match. He said that 12 teams from various Vedic institutions are participating in this competition and this competition will continue till January 20. (agency)
