WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature for beta users, which will be known as ‘View Once’. It works similar to the expiring media feature of Instagram. Once a photo is found on WhatsApp, it will disappear once you open it and leave the chat. The feature is currently available for Android WhatsApp users. The screenshot shared by WaBetaInfo shows that users can send such photos only by selecting them from the gallery. Once selected, you need to click on the clock-like icon, which will be present under the add a caption bar in the app. After this you can send the disappearing photos to your friends and family members.
The feature works for videos, photos and GIFs. If you don’t see the ‘View Once’ option while sharing media with someone, it means you haven’t got the feature. The user will get this feature in the 2.21.14.3 Android version of WhatsApp.
keep these things in mind
If you’re sending such an image to a group, you’ll be able to see when other users are opening expired photos, even if you’ve disabled the read receipts option. It is worth noting that the person who has received the message can save the photo or video using the screenshot or screen recording features and WhatsApp will not even notify you about it as there is no screenshot detection.
You will be able to share photos and videos in a group using the ‘View Once’ button. And you will be able to see who has opened them in the message info section. According to WaBetaInfo, even blocked contacts in the general group will be able to open these photos and videos. They can’t message or call you, but they will be able to chat with you in the group.

If you are sending a photo using the ‘View Once’ button to a person who has not enabled the feature, the feature will still work. Along with this, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg also recently confirmed the presence of this feature and also indicated that it will be made available to all people soon.
