AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann is getting public support.
new Delhi, The results of the assembly elections held in 5 states of the country are going to come out today. In UP, Uttarakhand (Uttarakhand), there is a close contest between the Congress-BJP in Goa, while the BJP is leading in Manipur.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading in 88 of the total 117 assembly seats in the preliminary trends of the counting of votes for the Punjab Assembly Elections Result 2022. At the same time, AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann is getting public support.
As per initial trends, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is trailing in both Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur assembly seats. Former chief ministers Parkash Singh Badal, Amarinder Singh and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal are also trailing in their respective seats. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal is also trailing by nearly 2000 votes in Jalalabad seat.
Congress’ Punjab unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia are trailing in Amritsar East seat. AAP’s candidate Jeevan Jyot Kaur is leading from here. While, AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann is leading in Dhuri seat by 26,516 votes.
Bhagwant Mann had single-handedly won the Aam Aadmi Party in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Bhagwant Mann is a Member of Parliament from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat of Punjab. At the same time, he is also the president of Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab unit. Bhagwant Mann is very famous in Punjab. He started his career as a comedian. Bhagwant Singh also won two gold medals during the Inter College Competition at Punjabi University, Patiala. He did his first comedy album with Jagtar Jaggi. This album became very popular. His television program ‘Jugoon Kahadaan Hai’ also became very famous. Apart from this, Bhagwant Mann has also appeared in the show ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’.

In the year 2012, Bhagwant Mann entered politics. He started his political innings with Manpreet Badal’s Punjab People Party. Bhagwant Mann contested the 2012 Punjab Assembly elections from the Lehra assembly seat of Sangrur. But, he did not win. After this, Bhagwant Mann joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the year 2014. After joining AAP, he contested from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat. This time he won and he reached the Parliament. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party won 4 seats. One of them was the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat won by Bhagwant Mann.
Bhagwant Mann contested the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections against the then Deputy Chief Minister of the state and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal from the Jalalabad assembly seat. But, he had to face defeat here. During the election this year, Bhagwant Mann has been in a lot of controversies due to his drinking habit. After this, in the year 2019, at a rally of Aam Aadmi Party in Barnala, Mann took oath to never drink alcohol. Bhagwant Mann came on stage with his mother and swore to his mother and said, “Mother, I have completely given up alcohol since January 1, now I will never touch it.”
Bhagwant Mann slowly started making his political career. He became the chief of Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab unit in the year 2017. But, in the year 2018, AAP leaders apologized to Bikram Singh Majithia in the drug allegations and defamation case. After this Mann resigned from his post. But at the behest of Arvind Kejriwal, he once again accepted this post.
In the year 2019 general election, once again Bhagwant Mann contested from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat and won by more than 1 lakh votes. The special thing was that if the Aam Aadmi Party won any one seat in the whole country, it was Sangrur Lok Sabha seat.
Bhagwant Mann had told in an interview that he had to lose a lot due to joining politics. Bhagwant Mann got divorced from his wife in 2015 itself. He had told that, ‘I do not even talk to my children on the phone anymore. Maybe I could not give time to my family, because of which I had to be away from my wife. We had divorced only by mutual consent.
