Let us tell you that RedFoxtrot is active since the year 2014 and primarily targets aerospace and defence, government, telecommunications, mining and research organizations in India, among other countries. Other countries it monitors are Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which is associated with Operation Remit of PLA Unit 69010.
Recorded Future, the world’s largest intelligence gathering group for enterprise security, has uncovered cyber espionage activity on Thursday. With this, it has attributed it to a suspected Chinese state-sponsored group, Redfoxtrot, named by the Insect Group, the threat research arm of Recorded Future. The Insect Group identified a special relationship between the Chinese military intelligence system and Redfoxtrot.
Recorded Future’s massive, automated network traffic analytics and expert analysis have detected infiltration into targeted sectors in bordering Asian countries. RedFoxtrot’s activity matches that of threat groups tracked by other security vendors such as Temp.Trident and Nomad Panda.
Active since 2014, Redfoxtrot primarily targets aerospace and defense, government, telecommunications, mining and research organizations in Afghanistan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, associated with the operational dispatch of PLA Unit 69010 is.
Redfoxtrot maintains a large amount of operational infrastructure and employs both bespoke and publicly available malware families commonly used by Chinese cyber espionage groups.
