BSNL 4G: The problems of 4G network of state-owned telecom company BSNL are not decreasing. It has now come to the fore that TCS and ITI are negligent in the setup of the equipment required for the 4G network. BSNL is testing the 4G solution of TCS and ITI. BSNL has asked both these companies to install the equipment as per the conditions stipulated in the Expression of Interest (EoI). This direction of BSNL comes after TCS and ITI filed the revised solution during the trial in Chandigarh and Ambala. According to these two companies, radios with a capacity of 20 watts are to be installed, but according to BSNL, the need is for radios of 40 watts.

these will be problems
- Private telecom companies use 40 watt and 80 watt radios for 4G network. According to industry executives, in some places, private companies use 20W radios for 2G networks but no one uses it for 4G networks.
- If 20 watt radios are installed then it will have to be installed in more places. For example, if BSNL has to make infra in 1 lakh sites through 40 watt radio across the country but if 20 watt radio is used then the site requirement will double. This will also increase the cost like diesel, rent and maintenance etc.

- TCS and ITI have also informed about installation of 40 watt radios but their number is very less as compared to 20 watt radios. According to information provided by both companies, eight 20-watt radios have been installed in band 1 (2100 MHz) and five 20-watt radios in band 41. On the other hand, 5 of 40 watts have been installed in band 1 and only 2 radios have been installed in band 41.
BSNL has not raised questions for the first time
This is not the first time that state-run telecom company BSNL has raised questions regarding the trial of TCS. Earlier, BSNL had raised questions when TCS had proposed 128 deviations in the product specifications. BSNL said that accepting these changes would harm its business interests and also affect the customer experience.
