The BJP on Friday received three out of the 4 seats within the Rajya Sabha polls in Karnataka whereas the Congress bagged the fourth seat. The JD(S), which had fielded its lone candidate, drew a clean. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, actor-politician Jaggesh and MLC Lehar Singh Siroya received the three seats for the BJP whereas the fourth seat was bagged by Jairam Ramesh fo Congress.
“BJP’s candidate for RS elections from Karnataka – FM Nirmala Sitharaman, actor-politician Jaggesh and MLC Lehar Singh Siroya have won. They got more votes than the allotted ones, people from the other party helped us,” stated BJP nationwide common secretary CT Ravi.
MLA Okay Srinivas Gowda solid his vote for the Congress candidate, whereas Gubbi MLA S R Srinivas put a clean poll paper into the field, which might be counted as invalid, JD(S) legislature social gathering chief H D Kumaraswamy stated, fuming at his colleagues. Despite not having the required variety of votes to win, JD(S) fielded former MP D Kupendra Reddy as its candidate.A candidate requires the help of 45 MLAs to win a seat, however JD(S) has solely 32 MLAs. Congress has rejected JD(S)’ request for help.
There was all-out struggle for the fourth seat between Lehar Singh Siroya (BJP), Mansoor Ali Khan (Congress) and the JD(S) candidate. Interestingly, not one of the three events had the required votes to win the fourth seat, which is why they reached out to at least one one other in search of help.
