It is said that cricket is a game of uncertainties. When it happens, it cannot be said. But, along with this game, the career of the players who play it is also full of uncertainties. Many times the flop player also gets so many opportunities that he proves himself in the end and sometimes the better player dips his career due to the circumstances. Fast bowler Manpreet Goni, who was once part of the Indian team, is also one of such players whose career was drowned due to his bad circumstances.
Great debut
These days, the old veterans of India are showing their stamina in the road safety tournament. Along with Sachin, Sehwag, Yuvraj and Pathan brothers, former Indian bowler Manpreet Goni has also done well in this series, sometimes with the ball or the bat. Today, Goni is seen as a normal bowler, who has played only a few matches for India, but this fast bowler should have started his name in such a way that his name should have been played in the entire cricket world, but alas. Could not The bowler, with his tall stature and bouncing his balls, started playing first-class cricket in 2007 on behalf of the Punjab team. Gony was so powerful that he would have come back again but due to his homecoming he could not come back again and by the time he tried to come back, it was too late. The divorce case between Goni and his wife pushed him to trouble. Along with this, he also had a fight with his mother, which had a bad effect on his form. Apart from this, his injuries also caused him great harm. Goni’s coach Sukhwinder Tinku told the media that Goni was one of the fastest and accurate bowlers in Punjab. Had he not been injured, he would have played more matches and taken more wickets.
Goni was so weak financially that he had to leave India and go to America. Here he used to run his expenses by playing in a small league. After this, Goni returned to India in 2016 and started playing for Punjab again. His form already looked perfect. In the 2016-17 Ranji season, Goni took the most wickets from Punjab. On this basis, he again got an entry in the IPL, but this time he did not get a chance to play more.
This record is for their names
Goni continued to hold his place in the IPL till 2013. He took 37 wickets in a total of 44 IPLs. Apart from this, he took 196 wickets in 61 first class matches as well as scored 1226 runs. Goni has a record of showing such a feat which only 5 other bowlers have been able to do besides him. Goni has taken 97 wickets in 91 T20 matches and his record is also of T20 matches. In fact, Goni has set the record for the highest number of maiden overs in a T20 match. In a match played against Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2012, Goni put 3 maidens in his 4 overs. In 2019, Goni retired from the cricket world at the age of 35.
