Agriculture success story: earning millions of rupees from modern farming of Shimla Mirchi
Abhishek Bhatt, a resident of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, says! Capsicum cultivation in vegetables has become an important source of income for advanced farmers these days! The growing market of capsicum due to the popularity of fast food has attracted farmers from states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, besides Uttarakhand and Himachal! Abhishek Bhatt said my father had an engineering job! Therefore, both our brothers were also encouraged for this field! In 2011, I obtained a Mechanical Engineering degree while my brother completed his MBA!
I was offered 4 lakh package jobs as soon as I passed out! But I did not, we did not want to rely only on jobs! Wanted to do something different! For this reason, we cultivated Shimla Mirchi and now young farmers like Naveen Karait Paddy, Maduva etc. Leaving traditional agriculture, they are doing modern farming with organic method of capsicum in their seventeen drain fields! This time they planted about fifteen thousand saplings of capsicum in their fields! Which has yielded more than 100 quintals! This has earned him a profit of nearly two lakh rupees!
This is how the idea of farming came
Once I went to my uncle in Bangalore! At that time, he used to cultivate Capsacum ie capsicum by taking land on rent! Due to which he was earning income of lakhs! I found it very strange to see that even though people have land here, they do not do agriculture! From there I got the idea of farming and both of us brothers had learned the nuances of agriculture business! After this, we went to Maharashtra with Uncle and the farmers of the area were able to understand the way of farming and the business that would happen!
The annual tarn over was estimated to be 11 crores
In the year 2011, we registered a firm named ‘Agriplast’! Had rented 3 acres on Dewan Road, a little away from Lucknow! Whose rent is 1 lakh rupees per acre per year! Cultivated capsicum for 3 years! The first year cost 5 lakh rupees, 8 lakh turnover was done! Net profit of 3 lakhs! 7 lakh in the second year, 12 lakh in the third year!
First started cultivation of capsicum and then other vegetables were grown around it. Within a short time, small traders started coming to us to buy vegetables! In 6 months, people from many nearby villages started coming to see our setup! With the money received from profit, we rented more land and started cultivating them too! We cultivate demand for flowers and vegetables from Israeli technology abroad!
Our turnover in the year 2017-18 is 11 crores! Both these brothers are the inspiration for the youth who leave agriculture and move to cities! While preparing the field for the cultivation of capsicum, 25-30 tonnes of dung rotten manure or compost manure should be applied. 60 kg at the time of planting as base fertilizer. Nitrogen, 60-80 kg. Sulfur and 40-60 kg. Potash should be added!
Capsicum seed sowing and planting time
Capsicum is grown thrice a year depending on the season! Which is as follows- Firstly, sow seeds in nursery from June to July and plant from July to August to be planted in the main field! Secondly, sow seeds in nursery from August to September and plant saplings in the main field in September to October! Third – Sow seeds in nursery in November to December and planting in main field in December to January!
Essential for good germination of capsicum seeds! To be sown on time because when the temperature starts decreasing on late sowing! So the germination decreases from 1 to 2 percent and germination takes a long time! 30 to 35 degree centigrade temperature is appropriate in the nursery! 20 to 25 degree centigrade temperature is suitable for plant growth! While the average temperature of the month is 10 to 15 degree centigrade for fruit growing!
