Legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently climbed to the second position in the list of most wicket-takers in Test cricket among Indian cricketers, says he never runs after numbers. He sees personal achievements as a part of his cricketing journey, not the end goal.
It is worth noting that Ravichandran Ashwin took 12 wickets at an average of 15.08 in the recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka (SL vs IND Test Series, 2022). Meanwhile, he broke the record of former India fast bowler and captain Kapil Dev taking 434 wickets in Test cricket and went ahead. Now Ravichandran Ashwin has now got 442 wickets in Test cricket. With this, if we talk about the whole world, then he has reached the 8th position in the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets in Test cricket.

Ravichandran Ashwin said in his statement, “The numbers look neat and it’s good to see what I have achieved in terms of numbers. Every time I have played, I have realized that statistics are not the end goal, but just a part of the journey of your cricketing career. The last 2-3 years have been particularly good. Great win in the Test series in Australia, coming back to the T20 team, it was the same experience as when I first made it to the team.
It is worth noting that in IPL 2022, Ravichandran Ashwin will take the field from Rajasthan Royals RR. This is his fifth franchise team in his IPL career. Ravichandran Ashwin said that this T20 tournament helped him become a better player from the beginning. Ravichandran Ashwin said, “IPL is a difficult tournament. There are many factors in each season, which can have an impact. You can call it the dew, the pitch, the opposition team, whatever, they affect in different ways. It makes it a challenge to prepare for it.”
Ravichandran Ashwin further said, “Personally speaking, playing IPL has always been exciting for me. IPL gives you the opportunity to experiment, which helps me become a player.
