The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday ordered the closure of all schools up to class 10th till January 15.
School Closure 2022 Update: The corona epidemic in the country seems to be uncontrollable once again. Due to this, many states including Delhi, Mumbai, Odisha, Punjab and West Bengal have announced the closure of schools, colleges and other educational institutions, amid fears of a third wave. The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday ordered the closure of all schools up to class 10th till January 15 and extended the night curfew by two hours. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 58,097 new COVID cases have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours with 2,135 Omicron cases in India on the morning of 5 January. Maharashtra has the highest number of 653 cases of Omicron. This is followed by Delhi 464 and Kerala 185 cases.

Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) have decided to conduct the Term 2 board exams in March-April, 2022. The date sheet for these exams will be released soon. Some states including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar have already released the dates for the 2022 board exams.

These decisions have been taken regarding schools in different states
- The Karnataka government has decided to close all schools and pre-university colleges for two weeks except for class 10 and 12. Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka said, “We have decided that except for classes 10th and 12th, schools in Bengaluru will remain closed for the rest of the classes. These rules will be applicable from Wednesday night. Ashok said that there will be a weekend curfew for two weeks from 10 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday. He said that all essential services will continue.
- The Maharashtra government has decided to close the schools from class I to VIII till January 31. However, online studies will continue during this period.
- In Bihar, all schools up to class 8 have been closed. Apart from this, all the schools, college coaching centers above class 9 in the state will run with 50 percent students. This order will remain in force till January 21, 2022. Students whose schools will remain closed, their online studies will continue.
- Many restrictions have been implemented in the capital Delhi. Along with this, all schools, colleges and educational institutions have been closed here till further orders.
- All schools, colleges in West Bengal have been closed till 15 January 2022. Apart from this, only 50 percent employees will come in schools, colleges and universities.
- Schools from class 1 to 8 have been closed in Jaipur. Right now the schools of these classes have been closed in Jaipur itself.
- The Punjab government has also closed all the schools and colleges in the state. During this all educational institutions, schools, colleges, universities and coaching centers will remain closed.
