Ambernath: In the last one and a half year, the rickshaw drivers of Badlapur, Ambernath had put a burden of ten rupees on the passengers twice in the fare. Finally Kalyan RTO has recently announced a new tariff for Share Rickshaw for Ambernath, Badlapur. In which the minimum fare is ordered to be 9 rupees. In such a situation, this decision has come as a setback for the rickshaw pullers who rob the passengers by charging an average fare of Rs 20 from the passengers. Due to this, there is a rift between the rickshaw pullers and the passengers, due to which the rickshaw unions have started protesting against this fare cut.
Ambernath and Badlapur both these cities are expanding rapidly. As the city expands. Commuters have to depend on rickshaws as their only option of public transport. However, earlier the fare for shared rickshaws from railway stations to residential areas in Ambernath and Badlapur was Rs 10 per passenger. The rickshaw pullers used to take five passengers in a rickshaw. That’s why the rickshaw pullers were getting 50 rupees for a round of two to three kilometres. All the rickshaws at the city rickshaw stand are running on CNG. Because rickshaws run on CNG instead of petrol, rickshaw pullers are getting more benefits.
