Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the first phase of Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi on Monday said that whenever Aurangzeb was born in India, it was Shivaji also emerged from the soil. This country is different from the rest of the world. The Prime Minister praised the civilization and heritage of Varanasi and said that while many sultanates rose and fell, Banaras remained.
Modi said, “The invaders attacked this city. Tried to destroy it. The history of Aurangzeb’s atrocities and terror is witness. He fanatically tried to suppress the culture. But the soil of this country is different from the rest of the world. If (Mughal emperor) Aurangzeb came here, then (Maratha warrior) Shivaji also emerged.
If Aurangzeb comes here, Shivaji also stands up!
If any Salar Masood moves here, then brave warriors like King Suheldev make him feel the power of our unity.
Even during the British era, the people of Kashi knew what happened to Hastings.
