The tomb of the famous Hindu philanthropist and top architect Sir Ganga Ram located in Lahore (Lahore)Cemetery) Will be opened to the general public at the end of this month. Some people had illegally occupied the site 10 years ago. The administration has freed the site from occupation. A senior official gave information about this on Thursday.
There is a tomb of Sir Gangaram near the Taksali Gate in Lahore, Punjab province. The site was closed to visitors for the past decade due to its illegal occupation by a group of people. Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Deputy Director Faraj Abbas said that we have taken back this land from the possession of a group of people and started the renovation of Sir Gangaram Samadhi.
Hindus will be sent for the inauguration ceremony
He said that after completing the renovation work, the Samadhi will be opened to the general public at the end of this month. He informed that an art gallery will also be opened here showcasing the works of the great architect. He said that after completion of the renovation work, local Hindus will be invited to the inauguration ceremony.
Who was Sir Gangaram?
Born in 1851 at Mangatwala near Nankana Sahib, about 65 km from Lahore, Rai Bahadur Gangaram was a civil engineer and architect by profession. He played an important role in the urban structure of Lahore, the capital of Pakistan’s Punjab province. He designed the buildings of Lahore High Court, Etchison College, Haley College of Commerce, Lahore Museum, Mayo School of Arts etc.
Please tell that Sir Gangaram donated land for the construction of a hospital in Lahore. Sir Gangaram Hospital was established in 1921 in the Maujang area of Lahore. Sir Gangaram died at the age of 76 in 1927 in London.
