- Torn packets of question paper found at Southern Point High School Examination Center
Nagpur. Activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and BJYM created a ruckus over the possibility of paper leak at a center during the prelims exam of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). Later, the administration investigated the whole matter and assured to take strict action against the culprits, after which the first shift exam started 15 minutes late, while the second shift exam was conducted under the supervision of the new center operator.
The pre-examination of Maharashtra Public Service Commission was to be held across the state on Sunday. In the city too, the examination was to start at 10 am at all the centres. It is said that torn packets of question paper were found at the Southern Point High School examination center located at Krida Chowk in the city. The examiners reached the examinees’ room with the same packets. Some students objected after seeing the torn packets. Meanwhile, a candidate informed the students of the Vidyarthi Parishad, after which about 50 workers of ABVP and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) reached the examination center.
On enquiry, the center operator did not give a satisfactory answer and kept adopting the attitude of evasiveness. This enraged the ABVP workers. They started a ruckus and sat on a dharna at the gate of the examination center to take action against the culprits. Efforts were made to convince the workers but they stuck to their demand. After this additional policemen were called. The police took the workers sitting on the dharna in vehicles and took them to the Imambara police station. However, after a while everyone was released.
The activists of ABVP and BJYM demanded the District Magistrate and the Commissioner of Police to investigate the whole matter and take strict action against the culprits, on which the officials assured to take action. Along with this, after removing the center deputy chief and the clerk who came under suspicion in the whole case, another officer was appointed in his place. The second shift examination was conducted from 3 pm onwards under the supervision of the new examination center. In this matter, ABVP Metropolitan Minister Priyanka Vaidya said that the incidents of paper leaks have become common in the state, due to which the morale of the students is falling. Such incidents expose the failure of the state government.
7 packets were torn
BJYM state secretary Kalyan Deshpande said that the examination was to begin at 10 am, but some packets of the question paper were opened only around 8:30 am. According to the rules, the presence of two examinees is mandatory while opening the packets. Also, whether the packet is safe or not, it has to be shown to all the examinees in the room. But these rules were ignored. This strengthens the possibility of paper leaks. Out of the total 20 packets at the center, the seals of 7 packets were found open.
