Mumbai: On Wednesday, 925 more patients infected with the corona virus were confirmed in Maharashtra, out of which four cases are of ‘Omicron’ nature and 10 infected people died. The Health Department said in its bulletin that the total cases in the state have reached 66,46,061 while the death toll has gone up to 1,41,298. On Tuesday, 684 cases were reported in Maharashtra and 24 patients died.
The department said in the bulletin, “As per the report received today from the National Institute of Virology, four more patients have been found infected with Omicron in the state. Of the four patients, two are from Osmanabad, one each from Mumbai and Buldhana. After this, the total number of cases of this nature in the state has gone up to 32.

Health Secretary Dr Pradeep Vyas, while giving a presentation in the cabinet meeting held in Mumbai, said, “The infection of the Omicron form of corona virus is spreading rapidly across the world and it is expected to increase in Maharashtra in January next year. Cases of Omicron form will be found in rural areas apart from cities.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Udvav Thackeray directed all eligible people to make extra efforts to administer the second dose of the vaccine. In the last 24 hours, 929 patients have been discharged from hospitals. After this, the total number of people who have become infection free has gone up to 64,94,617. It has been told that the rate of recovery from corona virus infection in Maharashtra is 97.72 percent while the death rate is 2.12 percent.

The number of patients undergoing treatment for infection in the state has gone up to 6,467. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 238 new patients have been found in Mumbai and no death has been confirmed. In Mumbai division, 417 cases have been found and one patient has died. Mumbai Division consists of Mumbai and its suburbs.
According to the bulletin, 297 new cases have been registered in Pune division while 123 in Nashik division, 15 in Aurangabad division, 22 in Latur division, 34 in Kolhapur division, eight in Nagpur division and nine in Akola division. Six people have died in Pune division, while no infected have died in Nagpur, Akola, Aurangabad and Kolhapur divisions. (agency)
