Nashik : Nashik is called the capital of wine. But the question is how it became the wine capital. This question has become even more relevant after a major decision was taken by the State Government.
According to the decision taken by the government, now the vehicle will also be made available for sale in grocery shops and supermarkets in the state. Nashik in Maharashtra has a distinct identity regarding the production of wine. The first winery in Nashik was started 30 years ago. From there, Nashik became the wine capital. At present there are 42 wineries in the country, out of which 22 are in Nashik alone. From this it can be guessed that why Nashik is called the capital of wine.

how to start pimping
Madhavrao More, a progressive farmer leader from Pimpalgaon Baswant in Nashik district, started winery under cooperatives for the first time. He named it Pimpen. From this the name of Pimpalgaon emerged. This pimpene signed an agreement with the Harbelt & Fils eponymous winery of France. Under this, works like manufacturing, selling of wine were started. This was followed by the production of grapes needed for wine in many places. Especially grapes like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir were planted in thousands of acres. These grapes are used extensively in the manufacture of wine. Pimpen made his inroads in a very short time. The production which started with 5 lakh bottles increased significantly. There was a huge demand for pimpene in Europe and France. But in the later days, there was no coordination with the management. Pimpen finally stopped manufacturing the wine in 2003.
22 wineries at present
At present there are 42 wineries in the country. Of these, 22 wineries are in Nashik alone. In such a situation, Nashik Valley Wine is important for the Central Government. Due to the extreme cold here, it provides a nutritious environment for the production of wine. Mumbai and Pune are nearby where grapes are produced on a large scale. Grapes are produced in about 1.5 to 2.5 lakh acres in the district.
