Ulhasnagar : The construction work of the city’s much-awaited late Balasaheb Thackeray Sports Complex is going to start directly in a day or two that meanwhile, MNS has given a letter to the Ulhasnagar Municipal Administration, saying that the Municipal Corporation should first do this. Assure that the proposed sports complex will be free for all categories and alternative ground arrangements will be made for the poor sections of the players.
Apart from MNS, there is also resentment among the former players and current youths who have played various games in this ground over the years. How serious is the municipal administration towards this demand, this issue has become a matter of curiosity and discussion in the city for the last 3 days.

Sports complex should not be privatized
Today, where the late Balasaheb Thackeray Sports Complex is being established, hundreds of players of cricket, football, kabaddi, athletics and other sports practice. MNS has written in its letter that it is a matter of pride that a sports complex is being built in the city in the name of late Balasaheb Thackeray. MNS demands that the sports complex should not be privatized nor should there be any fee on the players in future. The MNS leadership says that if both the above demands are not fulfilled in the next fortnight, then MNS will start a rescue movement at Maidan.
The construction work of Sports Complex and Balsaheb Thackeray Memorial will start from January 1.
It is worth mentioning that the local camp number-4, which is popularly known as VTC ground, is on the same land. A grand and modern facility sports complex, indoor stadium and memorial of Balasaheb Thackeray are planned to be built in the name of Balasaheb Thackeray with the funds of Municipal Corporation and MMRDA of the state government. Its tender process has also been completed. Due to the tireless efforts of Regional MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, necessary funds of 49 crore 75 lakh have been made available for the above construction work. On June 6, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde had broken the coconut for this work and the Municipal Corporation plans to start the construction work of the proposed sports complex on the first day of the new year.
The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation has earlier given two of its properties, Town Hall and Swimming Pool respectively, on lease basis to a private contractor for a long period, while the erstwhile municipal administration at the time of its construction had promised that the common man and the poor sections of the people would be able to do so. Will be able to use the places at affordable rates, but this has not happened directly. Me and my party allege that the rates of town hall and swimming pool are out of reach of common man and have become completely commercial. The said sports complex does not have this condition in future, so MNS is ready to hit the road with the above demand in the interest of the residents.
