2.5 crore purchase
Sometime back a polymer rake worth Rs 2.49 crore was purchased by the Education Department. The ruling members of the committee have alleged irregularities in this purchase. The members had demanded an inquiry into the matter from the Zilla Parishad CEO Yogesh Kumbhejkar. It has also been alleged that the Chairman did not put up the topic of polymer rake purchase in the meeting of the subject committee and directly placed it in the general assembly for approval.
The members had also alleged that the rakes supplied by the contractor were of substandard quality. When MLA Savarkar raised the computer training scam in the Vidhan Sabha, the Rural Development Minister assured a probe in 15 days. Members believe that efforts are being made to suppress the polymer purchase scam at the local level in the JIP. There should also be a high level inquiry into this matter, only then the truth will come out.
