A hospital affected person who killed a great-grandmother being handled on the identical ward has been jailed.
Philomena Wilson, also called Brenda, 56, launched an unprovoked assault on Vidya Kaur, 83, at Birmingham’s City Hospital on the morning of 21 January 2021.
Wilson repeatedly punched Mrs Kaur and banged her head on the ground, leaving her with a fractured cranium.
She died from her accidents three weeks afterward 11 February, West Midlands Police stated.
Nurses and one other affected person who tried to assist Mrs Kaur suffered minor accidents.
Wilson, who has an acute psychological dysfunction, was admitted to the hospital after being arrested for assault and wounding.
She initially claimed to don’t have any recollection of the incident.
Wilson of Handsworth in Birmingham, admitted manslaughter by motive of diminished duty at a listening to in April.
She was jailed for seven years, with an prolonged five-year licence interval, at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday.

Detective Inspector Michelle Thurgood, from the West Midlands murder group, stated: “Our thoughts remain with the elderly lady’s family after losing their loved one in such terrible circumstances.
“They have needed to wait many months for justice and I hope this lastly brings them some closure.”
