An Irish girl has been arrested in South Africa as a part of an investigation into the murders of two males in Ireland in 2014.
The 42-year-old suspect was detained in Bloemfontein by the Hawks severe organised crime investigation workforce after Interpol issued an arrest warrant, mentioned police in South Africa.
She was detained in reference to the murders of Eoin O’Connor and Anthony Keegan in County Meath.
The girl was anticipated to seem earlier than the Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court.
The males’s our bodies have been discovered on an island on Lough Sheelin in Meath on 26 May 2014.
They have been reportedly found wrapped in plastic sheeting and buried in a shallow grave on Inchicup Island.
South African police mentioned that after the killings, the suspect left Ireland.
A press release from the South African Police Service mentioned: “A 42-year-old suspect was arrested on Tuesday 4 October 2022 by the Hawks serious organised crime investigation team, together with SAPS Flying Squad and SAPS 10111, all based in Bloemfontein.
“Her arrest comes after Interpol issued a warrant of arrest towards her relating to the homicide of Eoin O’Connor and Anthony Keegan who have been discovered murdered in Ireland in 2014. After the homicide of the deceased individuals, the suspect then fled the nation.”
It added: “Information was received on Wednesday, 28 September 2022, about the suspect being located in Bloemfontein. The police followed up on the information and arrested the suspect in Pellisier, Bloemfontein.”
