China Alleges US Navy to Illegally Enter Warship: China has lodged a second protest against US naval activity in the region, accusing the US vessel of intruding into its waters in the vicinity of the Paracel Islands in the South China Sea. A statement from the Southern Theater Command said that the guided missile destroyer ship USS Curtis Wilbur took ‘illegal’ action on Thursday, after which Chinese forces had to be sent there and demanded to be moved out of the area.
The statement said the US action “artificially increases regional security risks and creates fears of misunderstandings, wrong decisions and accidents at sea.” It called the vessel’s practice ‘unprofessional and irresponsible’, stating that Chinese forces are determined to defend the country’s sovereignty claims while maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea (US Navy in South China Sea). The US refuses to recognize China’s claim over the entire South China Sea and regularly confirms its right of navigation in international waters by carrying out alleged navigational operations.
Protests were also lodged earlier
China on Wednesday issued a complaint regarding Wilbur’s passing through the Taiwan Strait. At the same time, it was called the act of provocation which endangered peace and stability in the region (US Warship in South China Sea). In response, the 7th fleet of the US Navy stated that the guided missile destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur followed international law and accordingly passed through the Taiwan Strait on a regular tour. This is the path that shows the American commitment to an independent and open Indian Pacific region.
US Navy gave a befitting reply
The US Navy said that it would continue to operate the ship anywhere in the sea or under international law. Talking about this strait area, it comes in international waters. Whereas China considers it a part of autonomous Taiwan. But the presence of the US military here is considered a display of support for the Taiwanese democratized government. On behalf of China, it has been said that its forces are keeping an eye on the ship and accused the US of influencing the regional situation.
