South Wales Police have confirmed Ms Martynova, who was recognized regionally as Tania, was within the UK after fleeing Ukraine following Russia’s invasion in February 2022.
She arrived in Swansea in July 2022, alongside along with her 13-year-old son.
Her hosts within the UK stated in a tribute that her “dream of returning to Ukraine this summer will sadly now not be realised”.
“Tania was an impressive woman, multilingual, intelligent, high-flying, hard-working, committed and diligent in her tender care of Illia,” they stated.
“She was a stalwart of the Ukrainian community in Swansea, playing her full part in all their social and cultural activities, marking the continued defiance of her nation.”
Ms Martynova had a “warm and pleasant personality” and was somebody who “hugely enriched” lives in Wales, her hosts added.
“Her numerous friends and work colleagues are all devastated by her sudden passing.
“Our ideas and prayers are with Illia right here in Wales, and Tania’s household again in Ukraine.”
Her hosts thanked the emergency companies for his or her care and added that their “hearts are broken”.
“Tania became like a daughter to us both. Our tears flow for a remarkable young woman. Ukraine has lost one of its finest.”
South Wales Police is interesting for anybody who could have witnessed the collision or who has sprint cam footage of the incident to get in contact.
