Britain is reportedly contemplating air strikes on Houthi rebels after the US Navy sank three boats that had been concentrating on a container ship within the Red Sea.
Defence Secretary Grant Shapps stated the federal government wouldn’t hesitate to take “direct action” to forestall additional assaults on delivery.
It comes after the US navy stated 4 boats from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen fired upon the Maersk Hangzhou and acquired inside metres of the vessel.
Several of the crews of the armed boats had been killed, US Central Command stated.
Writing within the Daily Telegraph, Mr Shapps stated the UK “won’t hesitate to take further action to deter threats to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea”.

In December, Royal Navy destroyer HMS Diamond joined worldwide efforts to discourage assaults on cargo delivery within the Red Sea.
Iran-backed Houthis have claimed the assaults are on ships both linked to Israel or heading to Israeli ports, and say they’re geared toward ending the air and floor offensive on the Gaza Strip following the 7 October assaults by Hamas.
On Sunday, UK Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron stated he had spoken to Iran’s international minister.
In a publish on X, he wrote: “I spoke to @Amirabdolahian today about Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, which threaten innocent lives and the global economy.
“I made clear that Iran shares accountability for stopping these assaults given their long-standing assist to the Houthis.”
