Multiple aftershocks shook the island
According to the service, the primary waves may hit Yonaguni island, Japan’s westernmost island, at round 4:10 p.m. (0710 GMT), adopted by three different adjoining islands. Yonaguni is situated about 110 kilometres (70 miles) east of Taiwan. The islands are situated 1,200 miles or practically 2,000 kilometres southwest of Tokyo. Residents in such places have been cautioned by climate officers to keep away from the coast.
Taitung County in Taiwan has been shaken by a number of aftershocks since being struck by a magnitude-6.4 earthquake on Saturday evening.
