This super glue sticks 10 times faster than the adhesive ability of fibrin glue. The blood flowing through this can be stopped within a few seconds.
Super Glue is made from snake venom.
A group of scientists, including scientists from Western University of Canada, has developed a ‘super glue’ that sticks to human tissue. Through this glue, the blood flowing continuously from any part of the body can be stopped within seconds. This glue sticks to the cut part of the body and stops the blood from flowing. This super glue has been prepared using the blood clotting enzyme Reptilase or Batroxobin. Batroxobin is found in the venom of dangerous lenshead snakes.
During trauma, injury or emergency bleeding, this superglue can be removed from the tube and applied to the injury, study co-author Kibret Mequaint, professor of engineering at Western University and study co-author, said in a statement. After this, a laser pointer-like light will have to be shown on it for a few seconds. Even the flashlight of the smartphone is enough for this. In this way, this glue will stick to the injury and stop the bleeding. Lenshead snakes are considered the most venomous snakes in South America. They are basically found in the northern part of the continent.
Super glue sticks faster than fibrin glue
In their adult stage, lenshead snakes can be between 30 and 50 inches long. They usually find their prey by hiding in coffee and banana plants. This is the reason why the laborers working in these plantations fall prey to them without any warning. These snakes can produce up to 124 mg of venom at a time. However, sometimes they also collect up to 342 mg of poison. Clinical trials of the new sealant found it to have 10 times the adhesive strength of fibrin glue. Fibrin gum is considered the gold standard by surgeons. While fibrin glue closes the wound in 90 seconds, this super glue closes it in just 45 seconds.
Glue can also be used to close the wound without soldering
Without a hemostatic adhesive (HAD), blood clotting occurs on average after five to six minutes. During this a lot of blood of a person sheds and this increases the risk of his death. Additionally, ‘Super Glue’ can be used to close the wound without stitching, the statement said. This glue has been used in conditions such as severe skin injury, ruptured aorta and severely injured liver. All these are considered to be major bleeding conditions, in which the risk of death is high. It has been said that this glue can also be used on the battlefield and car accident victims.
