A distinguished Palestinian activist has been detained by Israeli troops over an Instagram publish which her household says was faked.
Ahed Tamimi, 22, turned a Palestinian icon after she was jailed as a youngster for slapping an Israeli solider who shot her cousin within the head.
She was arrested throughout an in a single day raid on her house within the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli army stated she was arrested on suspicion on “inciting violence and calling for terrorist activity to be carried out”.
It comes after an Instagram publish was printed in her identify calling for the “slaughter” of Israeli West Bank settlers.
However, Ms Tamimi’s household stated she doesn’t have an Instagram account and the publish was a pretend.
The publish is not seen on-line, neither is the account carrying Ms Tamimi’s identify and picture the place it was printed final week.
Her mom, Nariman Tamimi, stated greater than a dozen Israeli troopers entered their home in Nabi Saleh village on Monday, ransacked their possessions after which took her daughter away.
She stated Israeli forces had accused Ms Tamimi of “calling for the killing of settlers and saying what Hitler did wasn’t enough – but Ahed does not have an Instagram account”.
Supporters have claimed the web publish was an excuse to arrest the activist and crackdown on dissent whereas the world is distracted by the battle in Gaza.
Israel’s nationwide safety minister Itamar Ben Gvir congratulated safety forces for arresting Ms Tamimi, who he described as a “terrorist” on X, previously often called Twitter.

It comes after her father, Bassem Tamimi, was reportedly arrested by Israeli forces final week.
Relatives have stated they’ve been given no details about the whereabouts of both of their relations.
