US President Joe Biden is also under increasing pressure to make further efforts as the death toll in the conflict has crossed 200.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
US President Joe Biden talks Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu: The ongoing dispute between Israel and Palestine is currently being discussed worldwide. Meanwhile, the pressure on Israel is increasing (Israel Palestine Conflict). US President Joe Biden on Wednesday called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to bring a ‘significant reduction in tension’ after a massive 10-day battle between Israel and Palestine. A statement has been issued by the White House about the talks between the two leaders.
According to the White House statement, this is the strongest public pressure ever put on Biden by an American colleague. It said that in a telephonic conversation the US President asked Netanyahu to move towards the ‘ceasefire path’ (Israel Palestine Conflict Latest News). Biden is also under increasing pressure to make more efforts as the death toll in the conflict has crossed 200. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on the other hand, said that Israel is carrying out ‘organized terrorism and war crimes’ in Gaza, which is punishable under international law.
Abbas accuses
He said in a televised address on Wednesday that ‘Palestine will not hesitate to raise voice against those who are committing such crimes before international courts’ (Israel Palestine Conflict in Hindi). Abbas heads the international-backed Palestinian Authority, whose security forces were ousted from Gaza in 2007 by militant group Hamas and seizing power there. The Palestinian Authority has limited autonomy over parts of the West Bank occupied by Israel.
War crime was investigated
Earlier this year, the International Criminal Court began an investigation into a possible war crime in 2014 over the Gaza war between Israel and Palestinian terrorists (Israel Palestine News). It has expressed concern over the current phase of the fight. Abbas accused Israel of ‘brutal attacks on civilians and deliberate bombing of homes’. At the same time, Israel says that it is only targeting the bases of terrorists and is doing everything possible to protect civilians from harm and it is also warning people before some attacks.
