A 21-year-old music producer was killed in a gang knife assault in entrance of oldsters on the afternoon faculty run, a courtroom has heard.
Dean Pascal-Modeste suffered 14 stab wounds and died on the scene in Grove Park, southeast London, on 24 February 2017.
One of his alleged attackers, Jahtel Williamson, 26, is on trial for his homicide after being introduced from the US to “face the music” final 12 months.
His is the third of a sequence of trials which have already resulted within the convictions of 4 younger males for the killing, the Old Bailey was informed.
Williamson, of Greenwich, southeast London, denies homicide.
On the day of the killing, Mr Pascale-Modeste, from Barking, east London, had gone with two buddies to document a music video to put up on YouTube.
He was ready with one in all them on a wall when two mopeds pulled up and one of many riders pointed a gun, jurors had been informed.
As they fled, extra youths appeared on foot “from nowhere” and began chasing them, “acting in concert” with the mopeds in an “ambush on two fronts”, it was alleged.
A ‘pitiless’ assault
Williamson is alleged to have been one of many attackers who chased the sufferer on foot.
Prosecutor Crispin Aylett mentioned Mr Pascal-Modeste was not a gang member and had merely been “looking to make a name for himself in the music business”.
He mentioned: “In the course of a pitiless attack, Dean sustained 14 separate stab wounds.
“In specific, two blows had been struck with such pressure as to separate Dean’s ribs and penetrate his left lung.
“Once they had finished with Dean, they ran off. By this time, the mopeds had already sped away. Dean was left lying on the ground, bleeding to death.”
He added: “All of this had happened in broad daylight at around a quarter to four on a Friday afternoon – indeed, a number of the witnesses had been collecting their children from school.
“This assault, chances are you’ll assume, was as outrageous because it was brazen.”
Four knives found in the area
Four knives were later recovered in the area and connected to the murder, the court heard.
Mr Aylett told jurors that Mr Pascal-Modeste’s two friends were linked to the “Splash gang” based in southeast London.
It is claimed the killing has its roots in a “toxic feud” between the gang and the B side gang.
Williamson allegedly fled to the US after the murder and was sent back to Britain in April last year.
Mr Aylett said: “The prosecution say that the time has now come for him, too, to face the music.”
The trial continues.
