Flights had been grounded and passengers confronted hours of delays at Gatwick Airport on Saturday following a system outage.
Travellers reported planes being caught on the tarmac on the West Sussex airport after issues emerged round 8am this morning.
Dozens of exits and arrivals seemed to be affected, with soccer followers travelling to Premier League matches amongst these experiencing points.
Gatwick Airport has apologised, saying the delays had been the results of an “outage” to a National Air Traffic Services (NATS) system.
It comes simply months after widespread disruption affected hundreds of passengers at airports in August, with NATS chief government then blaming a “one in 15 million” technical glitch.
Danny Bellringer, 45, was travelling from Dublin with fellow Brighton followers for the sport towards Burnley when the group was instructed their Aer Lingus flight can be delayed by not less than two hours.
The oil rig employee stated: “There’s not a huge amount we can do – we’re kind of used to it when travelling over from Ireland to the UK for games, (it) very rarely goes completely smoothly.”
Padraic Mac Aonghusa, 24, stated fellow passengers on his Ryanair flight from Dublin had been “angry” when the pilot introduced there can be a delay as a result of points at Gatwick.

A London Gatwick spokesperson stated: “There was an outage to a local NATS system earlier this morning which has now been rectified.
“Some passengers could expertise delays. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
The spokesperson added that one flight was cancelled and two had been diverted from Gatwick.
