Dubai, United Arab Emirates). The United Arab Emirates (UAE) intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels early Monday. The missile was fired at a time when Israel’s President Isaac Herzog is on a visit to the country. This is the third such attack on the UAE in recent weeks.
Giving this information, the UAE’s government agency ‘WAM’ said, “There was no damage from the attack, as the fragments of the destroyed ballistic missile fell outside the populated areas.” The country’s civil air traffic control agency said there was no immediate impact on air travel in the United Arab Emirates, where Emirates and Etihad long-haul airlines fly. Already, the country’s top prosecutor has threatened that those who share photos of such an incident will face charges in the UAE.

A similar attack was carried out last week in Yemen’s Al-Jof province. Al-Joff is located approximately 1,350 kilometers (840 mi) southwest of Abu Dhabi. Houthi army spokesman Yehia Saare tweeted that the rebels would announce an attack in the coming hours. He did not give any detailed information in this regard. Houthi news channel al-Maseera later reported that airstrikes had begun targeting Yemen’s rebel-held capital Sanaa.
Meanwhile, Israel’s President Isaac Herzog met with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the two-hour conversation, Harzog called on more countries in the region to recognize Israel and condemned the recent airstrikes on Abu Dhabi. “I want to emphasize that we support your security needs and fully condemn any attack on your sovereignty,” Harzog said, according to the office of Israel’s president.
