A hiker remains to be lacking days after being swept off her toes by flash flooding in Utah’s Zion National Park.
Jetal Agnihotri from Tucson, Arizona, went lacking on Friday as she hiked throughout the Narrows amid warnings of downpours.
More than 20 search and rescue officers had been trying to find the 29-year-old on Sunday.
Rangers stated Ms Agnihotri was amongst a number of hikers who had been “swept off their feet” by dashing water on Friday afternoon as sturdy seasonal rain storms hit components of the US southwest.
“Our search is continuing, we have more than 20 search and rescue team members in the field,” stated a spokesman for Zion National Park.
He stated their staff was joined by workers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Hurricane Valley fireplace district.
Ms Agnihotri’s brother Pujan informed native media he believed a video confirmed her clinging to a log in fast-flowing water.
The video seems to point out a person holding on to the log because it travels downstream, with an individual going through upright floating within the water forward of him.
Search and rescue groups have since recovered Ms Agnihotri’s backpack.
“She cannot swim. I mean the gushing water and all the debris and whatever it was in the water, I mean, I hope she’s okay,” Mr Agnihotri informed KSLTV.
Ms Agnihotri’s associates stated they had been supposed to satisfy her close to the customer centre’s automobile park after she hiked by means of the Narrows.
But when she didn’t flip up they referred to as for assist.
They stated that they had heard there was a chance of flash flooding and so the group determined to keep away from the world, however Ms Agnihotri wished to go to the Narrows and so determined to make the journey on her personal.
One of her associates, Mostafa, stated he thought she was “one of the toughest girls I have ever seen in my life”.
“I’m really sure she can fight with that river and she can make it out,” he informed KSLTV.
