Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been charged with disobeying a police order throughout a protest in Sweden.
The 20-year-old environmental campaigner was arrested after allegedly refusing to depart the demonstration within the southern metropolis of Malmo on 19 June.
Activists reportedly blocked oil tankers within the harbour.
An announcement by Swedish prosecutors stated a “young woman” – confirmed as Ms Thunberg by the prosecution company – was charged as a result of she “refused to comply with police orders to leave the scene”.
The crime of disobedience is usually punishable with a fantastic if convicted, however there’s a likelihood the Swede may resist six months in jail.
Ms Thunberg posted on Instagram throughout the protest saying: “The climate crisis is already a matter of life and death for countless people.
“We selected to not be bystanders, and as a substitute bodily cease the fossil gas infrastructure. We are reclaiming the longer term.”

Prosecutor Charlotte Ottosen stated: “You have the freedom to demonstrate, but you must not demonstrate in such a way that it causes disturbances for others.”
Ms Thunberg will reportedly face a trial on the finish of July.
