The household of a 16-year-old who died after falling unwell at Leeds Festival has paid tribute to the “beautiful, fiercely independent” boy.
David Celino, from Worsley, Manchester, was taken to the competition’s medical tent on Saturday night time and died in hospital on Sunday morning.
“Our David was a beautiful, fiercely independent and warm character who lived every day at 110% and who loved to spend time enjoying music with his friends,” his household stated in an announcement.
“He had just received fabulous GCSE results, got into college, and had hoped to study computer science at a top university.
“Leeds Festival was the spotlight of his summer time; in the end it was to take his life in probably the most unfair, merciless and horrible means, and we’re damaged.”
West Yorkshire Police is conducting enquiries into the demise and officers are supporting David’s household.
On Sunday the power stated it had launched an investigation right into a suspected drugs-related demise.
Officers had been known as round 10.16pm on Saturday after {the teenager} was taken to the occasion’s medical tent.
He was taken to hospital and died on Sunday morning.
Assistant Chief Constable Catherine Hankinson of West Yorkshire Police, stated: “Our thoughts are with the family of the boy who has died, and we have officers supporting them at this very difficult time.
“While the precise explanation for his demise is but to be established, one line of enquiry is that he had taken a selected kind of ecstasy (MDMA) pill, which was described as a gray or black rectangular form.
“At this moment in time this is believed to be an isolated incident as we have not received any similar reports.
“Users of any drug which isn’t professionally prescribed can by no means be certain of their contents and the dangers concerned with taking the substance.
“Anyone who does feel ill after taking any substance should seek urgent medical attention.”
