Two reindeer, which precipitated a twin carriageway to be closed after escaping a Christmas attraction on a rural property, have been caught.
The animals hoofed it from Elveden Estate in Suffolk on Sunday, the place they’d been taken to be a part of a Santa’s grotto occasion.
The pair wandered on to the A11 close to Barton Mills, forcing police to briefly shut the highway in each instructions at round 3.20pm on Sunday afternoon.
Officers from Suffolk Police took half in makes an attempt to recapture the reindeer, which have been paused in a single day.
Efforts resumed on Monday and the animals have been caught by 12.05pm.
National Highways East mentioned on X on Sunday: “@suffolkpolice have closed the #A11 near #BartonMills in both directions between #A1134 #Thetford and #A1101 due to several deer loose in carriageway.”
A spokeswoman for Elveden Estate mentioned on Monday: “We knew where they were last night but obviously we were losing the light so we didn’t want to spook them any more so we left them overnight.
“Their house owners got here again this morning and after a number of hours they managed to coax them again to them.”
She added: “They introduced one other reindeer with them, and with meals, nevertheless it took a very long time.”

Reports initially mentioned a “large number” of reindeer have been on the highway, however Sarah Parry, of Elveden Farms mentioned on Monday: “It was just two reindeer that we had hired for the weekend”.
“They escaped from their handlers and have now been recaptured and taken home to Lincolnshire safe and sound,” she mentioned.
