Harry Potter and Cracker actor Robbie Coltrane has died aged 72, his agent has mentioned.
The Scottish-born actor, identified for taking part in the Hogwarts gamekeeper Hagrid and felony psychologist Dr Eddie ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald in crime drama Cracker, died on Friday.
In a press release, his agent Belinda Wright mentioned: “He will probably be best remembered for decades to come as Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, a role which brought joy to children and adults alike all over the world, prompting a stream of fan letters every week for over 20 years.”
She described Coltrane, whose actual identify is Anthony Robert McMillan, as a “wonderful actor” and “forensically intelligent”.
Coltrane was made an OBE within the 2006 New Year’s honours checklist for his companies to drama and he was awarded the Bafta Scotland Award for excellent contribution to movie in 2011.
His agent didn’t give particulars on his demise – however mentioned Coltrane’s household thanked the workforce at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert for his or her care.
Coltrane is survived by his sister Annie Rae, his kids Spencer and Alice and their mom Rhona Gemmell.
