Assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis will face no additional motion after he appeared to elbow Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.
The incident occurred simply after the half-time whistle throughout Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.
Mr Hatzidakis was pulled from obligation by The PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) whereas the incident was investigated.
That investigation has now taken place and Mr Hatzidakis will face “no further action”, the Football Association (FA) mentioned in an announcement.
“We have thoroughly reviewed all of the evidence in relation to the recent incident at Anfield involving the Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson and match official Constantine Hatzidakis, and we will be taking no further action,” a spokesperson mentioned.
“Our comprehensive process involved reviewing detailed statements from Liverpool and PGMOL, as well as multiple angles of video footage, in relation to both the incident and its surrounding circumstances.”
In an announcement launched by the PGMOL, Mr Hatzidakis mentioned: “I fully assisted The FA with their investigation and have discussed the matter directly with Andy Robertson during an open and positive conversation.
“It was definitely not my intention to make any contact with Andy as I pulled my arm away from him and for that I’ve apologised. I stay up for returning to officiating matches.”
The official might be seen reacting after being confronted by Robertson shortly after the half-time whistle.
Sky Sports cameras appeared to indicate him throwing up his arm and making contact with Robertson, who gesticulated that he had been hit by the official.
