Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane has visited both the countries with the aim of enhancing India’s bilateral relations with Britain and Italy.

Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane met the UK Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Sir Nicholas Carter. During this, both the people exchanged views on defense cooperation between India-UK Relations. The Indian High Commission in London issued a statement saying, General Naravane arrived on a two-day visit to Britain on July 5.
General Naravane, who is on a visit to Britain as part of his European tour, will also meet British Defense Minister Ben Wallace and Chief of General Staff General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith. Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information tweeted on Tuesday, General MM Naravane held talks with Chief of Defense Staff General Sir Nicholas Carter and exchanged views on bilateral defense cooperation.
Army Chief to visit British Army formation
Earlier, General Naravane inspected the Guard of Honor presented by the Grenadier Guards at Horse Guards Parade Square as part of his welcome by the British Army. The Army Chief will visit the British Army formations and hold talks on topics of mutual interest. During the second leg of his Europe tour on Wednesday and Thursday, General Naravane will hold important discussions with the Chief of Defense Staff and Chief of Staff of the Italian Army.

At the same time, the Indian Army had said in a statement issued before the visit that the Chief of Army Staff would also inaugurate the Indian Army Memorial in the famous city of Casino and he would be briefed about the Italian Army’s Counter IED Center of Excellence located in Rome. The Army Chief has gone on a tour of both the countries with the aim of enhancing India’s bilateral ties with Britain and Italy. He flew from India to London on Sunday. The army said that General Naravane will meet with the Chief of Defense Staff and Chief of Staff of Italy during the visit of the second leg of his tour from July 7 to 8.
