Andy Murray has branded a promotional Wimbledon poster a “disaster” as a result of lack of prominence given to ladies.
The official All England Club art work highlighting on-court rivalries options 15 well-known gamers strolling down a staircase, with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz – neither of whom has gained Wimbledon – standing within the foreground.
They are adopted by Murray’s long-time opponents Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Six ladies are depicted in complete, with solely Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova among the many 11 most distinguished gamers.
Serena Williams – who has gained 23 Grand Slam tournaments – is seen in the back of the group together with her sister, Venus.
Murray is notably absent from the poster, along with his uncle and brother having criticised the exclusion.
But the two-time Wimbledon champion hit out on the positioning of the feminine gamers.
“It was a disaster, wasn’t it? I don’t need to elaborate any more on it, it’s pretty obvious if you see the poster,” he stated.
Asked about 4 of the entrance 5 teams of rivals being males, he continued: “That was what was barely unusual.
“I guess the players that are on the poster are ones that have had incredible careers and have been unbelievably successful at Wimbledon.

“But elsewhere are a number of the best gamers of all time.
“For me, Alcaraz and Sinner are unbelievable players, but it just seems strange that they were all sort of behind them.
“I personally do not actually care that a lot about it. But I can see whenever you take a look at it is like, ‘that does look a bit unusual’.
“Me not being on it is certainly not a problem.”
The Wimbledon primary draw begins on 3 July.
The 36-year-old Scot, who’s ranked thirty ninth, goes into his residence slam unseeded and awaits his destiny in Friday’s draw.
