Due to the deadly second wave of the corona virus epidemic, the process of unlocking is going on across the country, but mass public gatherings are banned in many places. In such a situation, if the election campaign is being done with humanoid robots in lieu of political leaders in the next year’s 2022 assembly elections with the help of technology, then it will not be surprised.
OneStand India Private Limited Company has developed a humanoid robot named ‘DOOT’ for this purpose, which has the ability to recognize different voices, recognize faces and understand gestures.
Robots can be seen campaigning in 6 states
These robots can be seen campaigning for the assembly elections next year. According to the company, they are in talks with political parties to use these robot campaigners for elections to be held in several states next year. The states where elections will be held in 2022 include Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Goa and Gujarat.
In the Tamil Nadu assembly elections in April this year, a newly formed political outfit India Makkal Munnetra Katchi (IMMK) first offered a humanoid robot for campaigning. This four feet robot, called ‘Dooji’, is also called the symbol of the party. Now the ‘doots’ is ready to serve the political parties by reaching out to a limited group of people with their messages amid the pandemic.
This robot is equipped with many cool features
Kumar Kanhaiya Singh, Director, OneStand India Private Limited Company says, “The robot ‘Doot’ rover has a large wheelbase, coupled with an all-wheel-drive gearbox, which enables it to move smoothly even on rough surfaces. Through Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled voice recognition, the humanoid robot ‘messenger’ will address the public on behalf of the politician. Questions and interactions will be reviewed from time to time by a team from the Company, who will have the answers to FAQs updated after each review.
The ‘Doots’ is equipped with a custom-made servo motor, which enables smooth bending and lifting of the entire upper body. The humanoid robot ‘Doost’ can also twist itself with 140 degrees of freedom, making it the only humanoid in the country to do so. This robot has HD cameras located in its head which enables the operator to watch the audience and record the attendees.
Singh said, the fourth generation servo motors are indigenously manufactured. They hardly make any noise and are capable of operating for long hours in hot Indian conditions without any breakdown or need for servicing. The humanoids are built on an aluminum frame with industrial-grade components. He said, due to the pandemic, political leaders are not able to meet even their party workers. These robot campaigners will save a lot of time as many humanoids can go to many places at the same time.
