According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) report, the total wireless users in the country stood at 1,167.5 million at the end of November. Both mobile and fixed line connections registered an increase this month.
Jio continues to grow in the mobile segment. The company has increased 20 lakh 19 thousand 362 customers. The total subscribers of the company have gone up to 42 crores 8 lakhs. Airtel has added 13 lakh 18 thousand 251 new mobile customers. Vodafone Idea (VIL) is continuously losing its subscribers. In November, the company lost 18 lakh 97 thousand 50 customers. The company now has more than 26 crore customers. On the other hand, BSNL and MTNL failed to garner customers in November as well. BSNL lost 2 lakh 40 thousand 62 mobile customers, while MTNL also suffered a loss of 4,318 connections.
Fixed line connections in the country increased to 23.55 million in November from 23.32 million in October. Jio and Airtel are the frontrunners in this race.
Jio added 2 lakh 7 thousand 114, Airtel 1 lakh 30 thousand 902 and Quadrant added 8 thousand 287 new fixed line customers. At the same time, BSNL, the leading player in this segment, lost 77 thousand 434 subscribers in November. Apart from this, VIL lost 38 thousand 83 fixed line customers, Reliance Communications 2373 customers, Tata Teleservices lost 2019 customers and MTNL 1828 customers.
The number of broadband customers in the country increased to 801.6 million in November. It was 798.95 million in October. Jio remains the leader in this segment. The company’s fixed line broadband customer base increased from 41 lakh 6 thousand to 43 lakh 4 thousand in October. At the same time, the subscriber base of BSNL reached 42 lakhs, which was more than 47 lakhs. Airtel’s customer base remains above 40.
