The Digital Engagement and Tracking for Early Control and Treatment (DETECT) trial is being run by data scientists. The study was conducted from March 2020 to January 2021. About 37,000 people using Fitbits, Apple Watches were included for the test. People were asked to download the MyDataHelps research app and then agreed to share data with their Apple and Fitbit smartwatches. Users were also asked to reveal their COVID-19 related symptoms and results of the COVID test.
The study found that those who had recovered from COVID had a faster heart rate. It was more than five beats per minute, which is above normal. In most of the patients, this condition persisted for two-three months after the recovery of COVID.
