Fast bowler Suranga Lakmal of the Sri Lanka Test team has announced his retirement from all three formats of international cricket. Former Test captain Suranga Lakmal will retire after the two-Test series against India.
The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka (1st Test Match SL vs IND, 2022) will be played in Mohali from March 4. The history of cricket tells that this match will be the 300th Test match of the Sri Lankan cricket team. There is no doubt that, or the match will be a historic match for Sri Lanka. Announcing his retirement, Lakmal wrote to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board that he loves cricket the most. And said, “I will be indebted to ‘Sri Lanka Cricket’ for giving me a chance and trusting me in the honor of my country. Because, it is a great pleasure for me to join the board. Which shaped my professional career and also fueled my personal growth. I have a lot of respect for all my players, coaches, team management, support staff, admin staff and all other support staff.”
Let us tell you that the Sri Lankan team, which is on India tour, will play a two-Test series with India. After the end of the series, Lakmal will play county cricket for Derbyshire, with whom he has signed a two-year contract.
