The names of the teams that have reached the quarterfinals of the latest season of Ranji Trophy-2021-22 have been clarified. Interestingly, it is being seen that in this season too, it looks like Mumbai’s Ranji team player Sarfaraz Khan started from where he left in Ranji Trophy 2019-20.
It is worth noting that a few days ago, Dilip Vengsarkar had put the selectors of Team India in the dock. And now, Sarfaraz Khan’s scintillating performance in the latest season’s Ranji Trophy has put more pressure on the selection committee of the Indian cricket team. And this pressure will only increase with time. The reason for this is that in just 3 matches played so far in Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season, Sarfaraz Khan has scored 551 runs at an average of 137.75. His best score was 275 runs. In this season, 3 centuries and a half-century came from his bat. This lively performance of Sarfaraz Khan seems to be paving the way for his future.
Shown in last season too
In the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 season, Sarfaraz Khan batted in 9 innings of 6 matches. And these 9 innings were reduced to just 23 runs from making a record of hitting 3 double centuries in a single season. Against Madhya Pradesh, he played a brilliant innings of 177 runs in that match and a ball blew his wicket. In total 9 innings played in that season, his bat roared at an average of 154.66 and he scored a total of 928 runs. Significantly, in the history of Ranji Trophy, he had the third highest average of any batsman in any season.
