The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) honored the star cricketer on the occasion of his 100th Test here on Friday.
Mohali, Virat Kohli, who has achieved the feat of becoming only the 12th Indian cricketer to play a hundred Tests, said on Friday that he wants the “next generation” to take inspiration from the fact that he is amidst a hectic international schedule. Despite playing in all three formats, he was able to achieve this feat.
The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) honored the star cricketer on the occasion of his 100th Test here on Friday. Kohli achieved this feat when he came down for the first Test against Sri Lanka here. After being felicitated by head coach Rahul Dravid, Kohli said, “Given the amount of cricket we are playing in all three formats and the IPL at present, the next generation can learn from me that I have played in the top formats.” I played 100 matches.

During this, Kohli’s actress wife Anushka Sharma and brother Vikas Kohli were also present in the stands. Former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, Secretary Jay Shah, Treasurer Arun Dhumal and Vice President Rajiv Shukla were also present during the event. Coach Dravid lauded Kohli’s ability to play longer hours and asked him to ‘double down’. Kohli said, “It is a special moment for me. My wife is here and my brother is also here. Everyone is very proud. It’s a team sport and it wouldn’t have been possible without you.”
“Thanks to BCCI also,” he said. Kohli is the 12th Indian cricketer to achieve this feat. Before him Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh and Ishant Sharma have achieved the feat of playing 100 Tests.
For the past few days, there has been an influx of congratulations to Kohli and on Friday morning, BCCI secretary Jay Shah tweeted calling the former captain a player who has redefined Test cricket. “His journey is a combination of spirit, passion, commitment and dedication.
